The 2009 Western Canadian Regional Model Contest was held on Saturday, May 30th at the Nanton Lancaster Society Air Museum, located on Highway 2 in Nanton, Alberta, Canada (appx. 80km south of Calgary, Alberta). This annual contest is hosted by the Rocky Mountain Model Club and attracts modellers from the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and occasionally from parts of the United States.
Braille Scale armour and guns were all lumped in to the same category, 12L. This year there were approximately 16 entries, covering a variety of subjects of all eras, though the majority of entries were from the World War Two period. Quality was excellent throughout as usual, and the competition was top rate. In addition to the entries in category 12L there were two Braille entries in the Collections category, where the Brailler collections competed against an assortment of collections that included 1/35 scale armour, figures, aircraft and many others.
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of pictures because I was using my new camera and I was struggling with getting the macro setting to work properly on a consistent basis. For the few pictures that did turn out I have identified those models for which I have information for. As for the others, if anyone has further information on the other entries, please contact me so the page can be updated.
