Making my CMP C15A I had to replace the ugly IBG wheels. I was considering
what I have in my spare parts box and while I was speaking about
the problem via mail to Jereb Vojislav, a Croatian modeller, he
kindly sent me the MPK dedicated resin set.
When I received it, I was amazed. The wheels are very nicely moulded.
The tread and the rim deepness are accurate. The set is composed
by a couple for the forward axle, a couple for the rear axle and
the spare wheel without the hub for a total of five pieces. Anyway,
during the measurement I found them unusable for my needs although
being very beautiful.
The CMP 15-cwt had the 9.00x16 wheels. As far as I know, this means
they should have a diameter of about 12.4 mm, a rim diameter of
about 5.6 mm and a tire width of 3.6 mm.
Unfortunately the set is oversized. The diameter is 14.0 mm and
the rim diameter is 7.0 mm. The tire width was slightly narrower,
being 3.3 mm. While the tire width difference is imperceptible,
the diameters are not and it is well visible in the comparison photo,
where near a MPK wheel there is an Airfix Bedford MW wheel.
On the basis of their dimensions the MPK wheels depict the 9.00x20
type, not used by the CMP trucks and lorries (30-cwt had the 9.00x16
and the 60-cwt had the 10.50x20 type). Although this size could
be used on some trucks (Diamond T968, White 444t, Austin K6 and
others), the rim is different and if used the modellers will have
