Instead of releasing a
comprehensive set of decals covering the many British
vehicles that participated in Operation Telic
(Iraq-2003), Bison has begun a new venture to custom
print the decals for individual vehicles on an as-ordered
basis, using their OKI DP-5000 printer. This series is
only available direct from Bison, and can be requested in either 1/76th or
1/72nd scales.
Bison has sent several samples of these new decals to this site for review, and I am providing scans of the first one today. Over the next couple of updates I will add scans of the other sets as well. First up for review is OKI-009: ISV/ICV Warrior, and this set is unusual in that it includes complete markings for three vehicles, unlike the standard one or two vehicles normally covered by each set in this series. The markings cover two ISV (Infantry Section Vehicles) from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and an ICV (Infantry Command Vehicle) from an unknown unit. Like all Bison decals, these are very sharply printed with bright colors and good registration. Since they are printed on a computer printer, the paper is covered with a continuous layer of clear decal film, so you will have to score around each individual marking with a hobby knife to minimize the amount of excess carrier film. As always, the instructions are comprehensive with painting info and complete marking placement coverage. Looking for Reviewers Since I am not yet emotionally ready to build models from the current war in Iraq, and probably won't be for a while, I would like to ask for volunteers to use these decals in review projects. I have available for review the above set for the Warrior, plus three sets for the Challenger 2 (OKI-002, -005 and -007), and one each for the Scimitar, Samaritan and Sultan. The Challenger sets are printed in 1/72nd scale, but would also be suitable for 1/76th. The latter three sets are printed in 1/76th, since there currently are no models available for these vehicles in 1/72nd scale. If you are interested in using these decals on your models, and then photographing them for submission to this, or other internet review sites, please contact me. Thank you very much to Bison Decals for providing the review samples. |
