T-34/76 Mod.1941

This, to E.T. standards, medium-sized PE set is meant for the Dragon T-34/76 Mod. 1941 kit. No kit number is given, but I assume they mean kit 7259, although kit 7262 or 7316 might do as well. (The latter is basically the same as 7316, but with some specific parts to cater for the modifications by the Wehrmacht and a slightly enhanced PE sheet.)
I believe other, non Mod.1941, Dragon T-34s might use parts of this sheet, if you so desire, as for the time being no other sets for the T-34 have been released by E.T., other than a set of tracks.
As I only have the Mod.1941s that come in kits 7259 and 7316, I will base my assesment on these two kits.

What does this E.T. sheet give you ?
- Fenders with various fittings. Very nice if you want to represent these with some damage to them. I believe almost all Dragon T-34 kits can use these.
- Different types of engine mesh and gills. The small meshes (A5, A6, A8 and A9) are already included in PE form in 7316, but not in 7259. Same for the gills (A11). These will be an easy improvement.
- Engine hatch (A3) with small fittings, to which a better version of the corresponding Dragon PE part needs to be fitted. Admittedly this PE hatch will be more to scale, but its realism will depend on how convincingly you can bend it to the required shape.
- Boxes. Nice if you want them open, but quite fiddly to assemble, I imagine. Perhaps you can combine them with styrene parts from the kit. Nice if you want battle damage.
- Grousers to replace the kit parts.
- Lift hooks.
- A fitting for the headlight.
- Workable hinges for the hatch. I will give it a try, but I am very curious if I have the skills to pull this off.

 

In all, a sheet with potential, including parts that are within reach of every modeler with basic PE-experience and some parts to raise the bar for others.
When I get round building one of my Mod.1941 kits, I will give it a try and tell you more.
