This is the first of two detail sets that Extratech has provided for the Heller VAB 4x4 kit. The second is a set of resin replacement wheels. This is one of the most comprehensive brass sets I have yet seen from this company. You end up replacing almost every part of the plastic kit except for the body walls. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since most of the detail on the kit was fairly soft, and molded onto the kit hull. Most significant are all the replacement hatches which allow the modeler to completely open the VAB, but then an interior would need to be made, which is not included in this set. I think I recall seeing an interior set advertised somewhere, either from Azimut or Propaganda Kompany? I'll have to check into that.

As always, the etchings are first rate. There don't seem to be any wasted parts here, except perhaps for some lift rings and mirror mounts, which may look better in wire. The resin machinegun is the same superb .50cal machinegun that Extratech includes in all their new kits. This is the best .50cal available in this scale.

This is an exceptional set, and combined with the replacement wheels, will turn the Heller VAB kit into a real show stopper.
