Kit #7269 | Preview by Rob Haelterman - heman_148(at)hotmail(dot)com |
By the time you are reading this, Goffy will be part of modeling history, which truly is too sad, as they had a very nice range in Braille Scale. This is a set I picked up just before
their demise, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it,
but it has some QC (quality control) issues. First of all, you get
some parts twice, like the camo netting for the nose and the gun barrel
(of which one has the extreme end broken off). If the boxtop is anything
to go by, I also have far too many accessories, like MP40s, hand grenades,
etc. On the positive side, the parts are superbly cast (a Goffy trademark, it seems) with no air bubbles or blemishes found and only minimal flash. Only one of the hand grenades was broken at the shaft.
On the other hand, I feel that the
name of this set is somewhat misleading, as it only has one part for
the interior: a breech block for the 5cm gun, i.e. no crew seats,
radio set, ammo stowage, etc. Bottom line: you only get one part that actually improves the kit, and that even looks "a lot" like it has been recovered from Hasegawa's Sd.Kfz.234/3 kit (i.e. it's actually a 75mm breech block). In my opinion, buying that kit and recovering the parts from the gun would make an alternative that is good value for money, especially if you use what remains for a Schwebelafette or Luchs-turret conversion.
