M-18 Hellcat
Manufacturer: Rhino Models (Kit No. 13)
This is one of the nicest resin kits I have ever seen, and definitely one of my favorite tanks. Just look at the amount of detail on and within the hull. With the exception of the engine deck grates, all of the detail looks very well done. Dave Runkle of Rhino Models said he made this kit on a challenge from a friend. I wonder what would happen if I challenged him to make an M-10 ...
Like the sIG 33, there are a few air bubbles on the lower surfaces, but nothing that a little putty won't fill. The interior of the turret is fully detailed, as are the hull and tracks. Some exterior details need to be added, such as the wire racks on the turret sides, headlights, side skirts, and a .50 cal AA machinegun. Based on the drawings within the Squadron publication U.S. Tank Destroyers in Action, this is a very accurate kit. With a good paint job, this is certainly going to be a contest winner. I recommend that everybody reading this review should buy several.
