US Army M1126 "Stryker" ICV

Kit #: 07255 Preview by Mark P. Johnson - mark(dot)p(dot)johnson60(at)gmail(dot).com
Edited by Rob Haelterman

Parts:

  • Plastic:
    54 in light grey plastic
  • Rubber:
8 tires, with a good representation of the pattern used on the M1126.
  • Decals:
One option: Solid NATO Green FS 34094, 2nd ID, 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, vehicle A-32. This was the first unit to receive Strykers at Ft Lewis WA. Black letters are high on the sand colored marking block.

Molding:

Molding is good. Some of the handholds are molded to the hull like the square handhold around the center ventilator on the top.

  • Upper hull:
Light tool marks on large flat surfaces. No anti skid representation on upper hull. Driver's hatch is separate and could be modified to open but no interior is provided.
The rest of hatches are molded closed.
  • Lower hull:
Tie rods molded with a little flash near the hull. Good joint between upper and lower hull.
  • Parts:
Hand tool pallet does not have enough relief. The shovel looks very flat. 5 Gal Jerry cans look like a fair representation of the plastic ones used today. M2 50 Cal is nice but the spade grips are solid and the carry handle on the barrel is solid.

Instructions are clear and appear to build in a logical manner.

Conclusion:
The model should build into a good representative of the M1126.
