What is the purpose of this site ? Well ask different people and you will get different answers, so I will attempt to give my idea of the purpose of this site.

Ontheway is not about bringing the latest reviews of the latest releases, I sometimes wish it was, but for this to be true certain things would have to happen : -

1, I would have to win the lottery

2, the site would have to be heavily supported by the manufacturers with them sending the kits in a timely matter.

Seeing as how neither of these are going to happen anytime soon, means that the purpose of this site is to mainly provide information of the available vehicle kits from the various manufacturers, I stress the word Vehicle as that is the main idea, accessories and PE etc come second to the vehicle and although they are included on the site they are not the main object, unless one of the two things above happen where the priorities might change.

Why? because this site is funded and paid for out of my own pocket, I have limited funds as to what I can buy, although I do buy things that are not my area of interest as it would be unfair of me just to buy the things that I want, I still can not afford every new kit going, neither can they be all the latest releases as I support my Local Hobby store and have to wait for them to get the kits in. That said The site also relies on Contributions from others who may have the missing kits, as seen in other reviews there is no need for long winded reviews, the main part is a good scan or photo of the sprues, where the details can be seen,I have had some photos in the past where the pictures of the parts are very poor making it impossible to see the details, I see no point in adding these and I am sorry to the people who sent them, but the idea is to be able to see and distiguish the various parts. People can and will invariably make their own minds up about things. The long term goal of the site is to have at least a scan or photo of all the available kits with or without commentary, although a bit would be nice. So for all you hoarders out there !! get clicking.

The second priority of the site is of course build reviews, because for an informed choice people also like to know any errors or difficulties that occur during the build process. To this comes also the articles on changing or improving various kits from one thing to another, or providing a comparison between different kits non the same subject.

Last but not least is the Gallery, this is a place where you can show off your latest creation, but not only this sometimes the gallery provides inspiration for others to build, I know that I personally trawl through the various galleries looking for inspiration or ideas, not only here but on other sites as well.

New to come will be the Book review, this is not intended to be a comprehensive review of the book and its contents as to whether the facts are correct or not, but more of a review in the sense does it include plans and pictures? and what is covered in the book? Nothing is more annoying when looking for information than to get a book only to find that what you are looking for is hardly mentioned, something I found out recently with the Osprey Chieftain, the Stillbrew armour is hardly mentioned except for a short passage.

So there you have it, I hope to have clarified the reason for this site, and as to why it is here, other than for your enjoyment and reference of course. So please enjoy, contribute if you wish or just read through, either way this site is for your enjoyment.
